Measuring diffusion kinetics on the nanoscale

MEASURING-DIFFUSION-KINETICS-ON-THE-NANOSCALE
An atom probe tomography reconstruction of a vertically aligned, nanoscale phase alternated oxide film consisting of an electronic conductor with good electrocatalytic performance with La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (red surfaces) with a fast ionic conductor, Ce0.8Sm0.2O2-δ (blue dots). The film was annealed in an 18O atmosphere after fabrication. APT data showing the distribution of the 18O isotope within the structure after annealing provides direct measurements used for the determination of the oxygen surface exchange and diffusion kinetics.
