EPMA analysis of unique amphibole-rich carbonaceous chondrite

ELECTRON PROBE MICROANALYSIS OF A UNIQUE AMPHIBOLE-RICH CARBONACEOUS CHONDRITE
Compositional X-ray map of fragment of the Almahata Sitta (AhS) meteorite, the first meteorite that originated from a previously spectrally classified asteroid (2008 TC3). The fragment is a unique, amphibole-rich carbonaceous chondrite from sample AhS 202, which experienced hydrous metamorphism on a large, water-rich asteroid. Round objects are relict chondrules. Main minerals shown are serpentine (red), chlorite (magenta), tremolite amphibole (green), Fe-sulfide (cyan). Integrating WDS + EDS elements selected from simultaneous hypermap. Width of image = ~4.1 mm.
